Kashi Vishwanath Corridor in Varanasi

The Kashi Vishwanath Corridor in Varanasi was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 13th December 2021. Prime Minister was also present at an event attended by 12 chief ministers and nine deputy-chief ministers of BJP-ruled states to discuss a broad variety of issues pertaining to effective administration. Kashi Vishwanath corridor was inaugurated before the conclave began, and the chief ministers witnessed many cultural and spiritual events, including the Ganga aarti and touring around the ghats.

When Modi arrived in Varanasi, he visited the Kaal Bhairav temple and made his way to a nearby corridor gate, which overlooks the Ganges River. At Lalita Ghat Jetty, he got off the boat and collected some water from the holy Ganges before walking into the corridor. He then made his way to the Kashi Vishwanath temple, where he prayed.

During the inauguration event, Modi prayed to Kashi Vishwanath and chanted mantras in the presence of the god. Party national general secretary Tarun Chugh stated that about 500 million people tuned in to the live show and even viewed it on social media sites like YouTube. According to estimates, almost 3,000 saints, seers, and dignitaries graced the inaugural ceremony.

PM Modi went for a group photograph with the maintenance workers and thanked them for their service. They had all been chanting "Har Har Mahadev" while they were getting shot. Narendra Modi's ambition to establish the corridor was praised by Yogi Adityanath, the UP CM. "The long wait has finally come to an end," he remarked. Furthermore, Acharya Sri Pundrik Goswami took it to his Twitter to congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the successful planning, development and inauguration of the grand corridor that buffed up the city's sacerdotal charm.

Until now, the temple has been tucked away in one of Varanasi's narrowest passageways, making it difficult to get there on big events. You could not have a look at it from the river as the view was obscured. These impediments inspired the idea of a convenient corridor that allowed more space and provide complete access to the temple from different angles.

The Mandir Chowk in the temple grounds will be connected to Lalita Ghat on the Ganga by the 20-25 foot wide corridor that was officially inaugurated on Monday. Worshippers can bathe in the Hindu holy river and worship Lord Shiva in the temple from the spot where they bathe.

At a cost of just over $44 million, the first stage of the endeavour was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi. Tourist Facilitation Center, Mumukshu Bhavan, Bhogshala, City Museum and Viewing Gallery have all been established. The enhanced infrastructure of the otherwise crowded city of Varanasi is said to benefit Sarnath, a Buddhist pilgrim destination in the city.

The project has garnered a lot of attention and appreciation from ministers and priests like Acharya Pundrik Goswami, and rightfully so. As a result of a joint effort by the local authorities and architectural company headed by architect Bimal Patel, the new corridor was finished in a matter of days. There are various entrances and structures connecting to the temple that has been built with stones and other materials employing traditional craftsmanship as part of the 800 million project.
