Planting turmeric as the basic crop which has a high demand in local and international markets, Mr. Joshi and his associate farmers in Harsol are reaping a huge profit of 3 Crore per acre. An acre of farm gives 500 to 800 tons of yield of turmeric. What more, the farmers save cost on labor and fertilizers due to this unique Vertical Farming Green House Technique.

Mr. Kamal Joshi has the expertise to build a farm from the scratch and deliver it till the profits emerge. He has proven this in Harsol and is keen to grow all over India. The turmeric crop take a turn around time (TAT) of 9 months. In vertical green house farming a 6 layered polyhouse is prepared which accomodates 4 lakh plants in-toto, each plant producing 1.5 kg of turmeric. The market value of turmeric is ₹ 50 to ₹70. The total production of 6 lakh kg

When asked about the challenges he faced, Mr. Joshi had a clear vision. Traditional farming is labor intensive and has a failure probability more than this unique Israeli technique where the outcome is not dependent on the weather and other environmental factors. But such a technology comes with a cost. The cost to set up is almost 12 crores per acre and that's what is pinching growth. Mr. Joshi agriculture expert expects the government to get involved and provide subsidized loans to the farmers for such type of farming. This would boost the morale of the farmer community and more farmers would be able to generate higher yields which can improve the GDP of the country. Our exports can be boost by planting not just turmeric but different crops which has high demand nationally and internationally.
