The threats triggered a multi-agency search involving the fire department, police, bomb detection teams, and dog squads. The threat emails were received around midnight, specifically mentioning events like the "parent-teachers' meeting" and "sports day."
The emails warned of potential bomb blasts in the schools on December 13 and 14, 2024. Following the threats, school authorities advised parents not to send children to school or to take them back if they had already arrived.
The Delhi Police quickly responded, with investigations into the threats underway. Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal raised concerns about the psychological impact of repeated bomb threats on children’s well-being and education.
On December 9, at least 44 schools in Delhi received similar bomb threat emails, which were later declared hoaxes. Affected schools informed parents that classes would be held online as a safety measure for the day.
The police assured the affected schools that investigations would be thorough and swift. Kejriwal expressed his worry over the growing frequency of such incidents, questioning the effect on children's education and mental health.
