Upendrra Rai, Chairman, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Bharat Express
Bharat Express News Network Chairman, Managing Director, and Editor-in-Chief Upendrra Rai participated in a significant Hepatitis B awareness program organized by the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) in Delhi. The event, led by ILBS Director Dr. SK Sarin, brought together prominent figures, including film producer Boney Kapoor, Delhi Chief Secretary Dharmendra, to raise awareness about the critical issues surrounding Hepatitis B.
Upendrra Rai Honors Boney Kapoor's Contributions
In his address, Upendrra Rai turned the spotlight on renowned producer Boney Kapoor, sharing his long-standing professional relationship with him. Rai recalled how, under the guidance of Sahara Group Chairman Sahara Shri Subroto Roy Sahara, Kapoor's leadership at the Sahara Group helped manage its entertainment ventures, including Sahara Motion Pictures and Sahara One. Rai called Kapoor the "real hero" of films, acknowledging the risks he took to ensure the success of his projects, and praised his role in producing iconic films like Mr. India. Rai also reflected on Kapoor's personal qualities, calling him selfless and humble, emphasizing that Kapoor never sought special treatment and quietly helped many people in need. He also noted how Kapoor's films, such as Mr. India, remain iconic, recalling the famous dialogue, "Mogambo Khush Hua."
A Personal Tribute to Dr. Sarin's Care
CMD Upendrra Rai also expressed his deep gratitude towards Dr. SK Sarin, recalling the critical role he played in saving his mother's life. In 2011, when his mother was critically ill, former Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora introduced him to Dr. Sarin. At that time, ILBS had just started its operations. "I brought my mother here in a very bad condition. Dr. Sarin treated her and sent her back completely healthy. She remained well for a long time," Rai said. His mother passed away in 2016, but Dr. Sarin treated her once more before her passing, ensuring she recovered from her illness.
Emotional Bond with ILBS
Rai expressed his emotional attachment to ILBS, saying, "When other doctors failed to diagnose her condition, Dr. Sarin gave us precious years with her. She didn't die from the disease she was suffering from." He added that his mother ultimately passed away due to a heart attack, not the undiagnosed illness. Rai credited Dr. Sarin and ILBS for their efforts, which gave his family more time with his mother.
A Life of Humility and Giving
Rai spoke further about Boney Kapoor's values of generosity and humility, describing how Kapoor has always been an example of selflessness. He shared personal anecdotes that highlighted Kapoor's modesty, pointing out that he never sought recognition for his acts of kindness and often covered his own expenses for events. Rai admired how Kapoor's family, especially his daughters Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor, embody the same principles of care and dedication to helping others.
The event concluded with an emotional pledge from all attendees to continue raising awareness about Hepatitis B, fighting stigma, and supporting those affected by the disease. Through this event, Dr. Sarin, Boney Kapoor, and Upendrra Rai, along with other distinguished guests, reiterated the importance of community support and solidarity in the battle against Hepatitis B
